Why is Uluru important to the Aboriginal people ?
Aboriginal people revere certain sites around Australia as sacred. Uluru (Ayers Rock) is one of them. It is a place of mysticism, a place from where much of their Aboriginal Dreaming emanates. It is a place where, they believe, the bodies of their ancestors hardened into rock. It was there at the Alcheringa (the Dawn of Time) and will be there until the very end. It holds peace and power. For the central Australian Aborigines, the Dreamtime stories come out of Uluru. They kindly ask if you don't climb the rock because you must walk over the dreamtime exit path. So Uluru is very sacred to the people it is there kind of like god in a way.
